I've walked in a few times and have been able to get a table for 2.
Nope
Charming, cozy and excellent food. The service can be a bit slow but that's part of the charm...the owner and wait staff are terrific.
Had my wife's birthday party here and it was perfect! No cell phone chatter at every table.
Great environment. Friendly staff.
Fine for others, but really not my cup of tea. Don't think I'll be back.
Loved it! The food was excellent! The service was great. The lamb ouzi was very flavorful. It's a great place to take a date or friends from out of town. The decor and the lighting is romantic, dimly lit. We did not drink any alcohol, so I can't comment on that. I was visiting NYC from Los Angeles and my friends brought me here for dinner. I just fell in love with this place. I look forward to going back someday!
Excellent service from Joan and Larena. Delicious food, real mint tea in a copper teapot. Best tabouli I've ever tasted. Cozy, quiet, welcoming.
A top place for quality middle eastern food. Visited on a Wednesday I think. Prices are appropriate for the quality.
Very friendly, always delicious
If it weren’t for the great service (I ordered pick-up but the people were still nice) this would be a zero-star review. Granted, my only exposure to maqluba is from my Palestinian friends but this “Syrian” version tasted JUST like chicken curry. And I mean just like it. Curry sauce?! In maqluba?! Really?! And the top of that, the kenafah was not good at all. In fact, it was bad. I was highly disappointed. The ambience is legit but the people raving about the food, I just didn’t have that experience at all.
Good food and nice setting but the service is grumpy. We--a party of five--were told we couldn't have separate checks. I've never seen that in a restaurant.
Would certainly recommend trying this spot. Fantastic character, delightful dishes, fantastic service. Kudos.
GREAT private party there with 80 friends, at a bridal shower. The appetizers were exotically different, compared to the 'usual suspects' served at parties like sushi. Joan was very sweet and assisted with menu, flowers and bar choices. We all had the lentil soup, and a choice of lamb kebabs or coriander shrimp. The whole restaurant was cozy and adorable, and their prices were really competitive. No regrets, great event. Thanks Salam and crew.
Some of the best food in NYC I've been going there for over 30 years (former space on greenwich ave) Joan and Bassam are the best
This place is the absolute best, and run by the best people! Great food, great ambiance.
Excellent Turkish & Moroccan foods. Small cozy space just down a few stairs from street. Interesting variety of dishes. Reasonable prices and very good service. Nice for a romantic couple or quiet business conversations.
Great food and experience
If there’s a half star i would rate this restaurant with. My girlfriend and i just ate today and the food wasn’t tasty at all. Meat was half cooked, tasted like raw meat , very nasty. At the end my stomach and hers hurt so much.
The food is unbelievably great, I loved it. Take the plate with various appetizers so you can have a taste of everything
👍👍👍
They have one photo from another restaurant 'Balade Restaurant' on 1st Avenue, I dont know why they added and nobody seems to recognize this photo.
The food was fresh and delicious, with a specific emphasis on the Ouzi, a flaky entree especially difficult to find in the United States. The space is extremely comfortable, the merguez was grilled to perfection, and local celebrities have been known to pop in from time to time.
Fabulous dinner visit! Server Maria was excellent!
Super transporting experience. I love the interior decor and the food is good too.
Excellent authentic food. Nice intimate atmosphere. Service was excellent.
Delicious food great dervice
We have eaten at Salam at this location and their earlier smaller restaurant. The food and ambiance has been and remains top quality, always. Our family considers this place home and our best middle eastern go to for scrumptiousness. Do not hesitate dining here. A+++++++
Good food, great venue. Very cozy and great for groups/parties.
As always, the food is great, but tonight the wait was a little longer than usual. But, it was well worth it. 5 stars!!
Great food, great environment, great service.. a must visit place.
Grate Middle Eastern food. Good service
This is the food I grew up on, just like my situ and my mother used to make. it's really the best most authentic arabic food in town. F Murray Abraham
Quiet, pleasant restaurant hidden in the W. Village. Authentic Middle Eastern specialties, and atmospheric decor. Try the house-made sangria.
Service and food were horrible. Left after the appetizer and was very disappointed.
Salam is a very nice, cute Middle Eastern restaurant near Union Square and the West Village. A go to spot for me as I live around the corner. I love the decor - lanterns, mosaic tables, bench seating with Moroccan pillows. They have one private room that looks really romantic with curtains, pillows, lighting - it just really feels like another world. The staff is helpful and the food is consistently good and filling, and the prices are affordable.I will keep going back and bringing my friends with me.
Amazing food, service & ambiance. Spent a beautiful night dining on their charming patio.
They were not open for lunch.
The appetizers were bomb, the curry chicken eggplant was amazing. I would go back
Atmosphere is unhurried and relaxing, food is flavorful, and the location is easily accessed by subway.
I deeply LOOOVE this place!! Had no idea how good it is before going there but I got amazed once I walked in the door. Cozy and exotic decoration, beautiful, warm, comfortable, relaxing. And the food was amazing! Even the air smelled delicious! Everything was fresh, authentic and yummy! There was a great customer group too, all looked like well-educated regular visitors, artsy and full of soul. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed very late that night but she was still helping us. A full-star place, I'll definitely go there again and again!!!
Love this place! Best lamb chops in NYC!!
Amazing food. Get the ouzi, the combination kebab, the best spinach pie ever, and the fattoush. Yum Yum!
FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!!I LOVE IT!!!IM GETTING MARRIED IN IT!!!!!
Lovely small place for lunch.
I had the worst tagine of my life here,it is almost double the price compared to other places and 4 times worst in taste.I highly regret going to this place
The food we got was atrocious. We ordered the sampler, and at least two of the dishes were just burnt. They were completely black. Feel free to go here for the decor, but bring your own food.
Great Middle Eastern food. So happy I stumbled upon it!
This is such a cute restaurant. It feels a bit like your transported to a beautiful casual Syrian dinner party. It was very laid back quiet and welcoming. We went after work Monday so it was a bit too quiet. Maybe they could turn up the music a bit for the white noise effect because I did feel like it was a bit too easy to overhear everyone's conversation. The food was excellent. We had hummus, the coriander chicken and the tagine. The hummus was very creamy. The meat dishes we're very juicy and flavorful. I'll definitely come here again soon.
The best Syrian food in Town! The owner/Chef is Syrian and you get the real flavor of the Syrian cuisine! I always take my guests and visitors there ! The Hummus , kobeh , fatoosh and the Ozzi are just Delicious!
A local neighborhood must. The food is authentic and fabulous! Syrian Americans love it - like home. Down to earth ambience. No loud music.
Love their Middle Eastern food. Nice ambiance. We always have excellent and friendly service, with sometimes a bit of a wait.
